Every golfer's dream is the perfect round. Jimmy McDonogh achieved his dream on Sunday when he covered the Highfield golf course in just one over par. Nothing new in that you may say. However, McDonogh plays off a 19 handicap which resulted in a remarkable 54 stableford points and a comfortable win in class two.
Played in the company of his brother Gordon McDonogh, his wife Eleanor McDonogh and Kio Tanaka, Jimmy McDonogh's remarkable round also included three three-putts, but they were cancelled out by birdies at the par-five fourth and seventh and at the 17th, where he drove the green from the forward tee. The tennis professional at Fitzwilliam, McDonogh has been playing golf for just three years.
