MUNSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP:THREE of the four quarter-finals of the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup were played yesterday and resulted in wins for Crescent Comprehensive, Ardscoil Rís and Castletroy College.

Holders Crescent beat PBC 20-10 at Dooradoyle, with the outstanding Greg O’Shea scoring 16 points, including two tries.

The Cork side at least finished in style, scoring 10 points inside the last seven minutes, Paddy Hegarty getting a try, which Conor Flanagan converted.

At Clifford Park, fancied Ardscoil Rís beat St Munchin’s College 17-10. Prop Kelvin Brown had Ardscoil in front with a try which Stephen Fitzgerald converted and followed with a penalty for a 10-0 interval lead.

Joe Cannon’s try put Ardscoil in the driving seat, and Mark Long’s late effort was too late for St Munchin’s.

At Clanwilliam, Castletroy College had a 20-0 win over Rockwell. Conor Linehan had them in front with an 18th-minute penalty which was followed three minutes later by a try by John Fox under the posts and Linehan tapped over the conversion.

Flanker Pat O’Kane had a second-half try for the winners, which Linehan again converted.

The last quarter-final between CBC and Glenstal Abbey takes place at Musgrave Park today.
