ULSTER U-21 FC QUARTER-FINALS: Down 0-15 Tyrone 1-12:EXTRA-TIME failed to separate Down and Tyrone in Páirc Esler, Newry last night. In a closely fought first half the scores were level three times as each side in turn fought for supremacy.
Tyrone went in leading at the break though when, with the last action of the half, a mistake by the Down keeper allowed Dermot McNulty to set up Matthew Donnelly who fired to the net. Tyrone led by 1-6 to 0-7 at the interval.
Down took over after half-time and scored four unanswered points. Tyrone took 20 minutes of the second half to score but finished strongly with points from Paddy McNeice and Ronan ONeill to send the game to extra time.
Each side managed three points in extra time, with Tyrone finally levelling with a late point from a Ronan O’Neill free.
