TRANSFER NEWS:MARTIN O'NEILL is expected to bid for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas, who is also attracting interest from Internazionale.
The Aston Villa manager has been monitoring the 26-year-old’s availability for the past few weeks. Spurs are likely to demand a fee in the region of €12 million.
Hull manager Phil Brown is planning to meet Fulham striker Bobby Zamora today to discuss a potential €6 million move to the KC Stadium.
Hull have been given permission to speak to the former Tottenham and West Ham forward after their club record-equalling bid was accepted last week.
Brown is anxious to bring in more firepower after seeing previous moves for Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Daryl Murphy fall by the wayside this summer.
Zamora (28) is now free to meet Hull officials after returning from Fulham’s pre-season tour of Australia.
Another forward linked with a move to the KC Stadium is Liverpool’s Andriy Voronin, who Brown is interested in.
Norway international Bjorn Helge Riise is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Fulham, the club confirmed yesterday.
The 26-year-old midfielder is the younger brother of former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise and has won 16 international caps.
In a brief statement Fulham said: “Norwegian midfield player Bjorn Helge Riise has travelled to London for talks with the club and is currently undergoing a medical examination. This process is not due to be completed until late on Tuesday evening.”
Riise has spent the last five years at Lillestrom.
Former Ukraine and Tottenham Hotspur striker Serhiy Rebrov has retired from the game to become a coach for his former club Dynamo Kiev.
The Ukrainian champions said Rebrov would become an assistant to youth team coach Vladimir Muntyan.
Rebrov remains Dynamo’s all-time leading scorer with 161 goals in 335 games.
The well-travelled 35-year-old last played for Rubin Kazan, helping them to the Russian premier league title last year. He made his name at Dynamo before joining Spurs in 2000 for a then club record €12.8 million.
