O'Brien may invade Epsom

Aidan O'Brien yesterday indicated he may have as many as five runners in Saturday week's Epsom Derby.

The Ballydoyle trainer has Brian Boru, Hold That Tiger, Alberto Giacometti and The Great Gatsby among his six-strong entry as he goes in search of a third Derby success in a row.

"The ground will have to be safe, but we wouldn't mind going to Epsom with them all and finding out their pecking order," he said.

O'Brien also said a decision about sending a runner for Sunday's French Derby won't be taken until the middle of this week.

After the controversy over the granting of a licence to race, Kilbeggan has its first date of the year this evening, with the novice Cherry Hunter fancied to defy 11.13 in the handicap chase.

Rossmio also looks worth an interest in the bumper.
