Organisers of the Community Games will take a vote at next weekend's AGM in Tullamore to decide whether or not they will use Mosney as the site for the Games' national finals.

The Government announced last November that the holiday camp would be used to house asylum-seekers. It was feared the Community Games would have to find an alternative venue but a subsequent meeting with Minister for Justice John O'Donoghue, paved the way for an agreement where Mosney could still be used to host the event.

Earlier this month, the organisers called an emergency meeting to discuss the options and the final decision will be made next weekend.

Among the possible alternatives being looked at is Tramore holiday centre, but Martina Mulhall, PRO of the Community Games, said yesterday that with the promise of extra accommodation at Mosney, it is likely the finals can go ahead as normal.
