JOHN MORGAN picked up his fifth title in three years as a senior with a four shot victory in the Scottish Seniors Open at Newmacher, Aberdeen yesterday.

The 53 year old West Kirby professional posted a closing two under par 70 in tough, windy conditions for a winning total of seven under par 209.

Royal Jersey's Tommy Horton held on for second place with a 74 for 213 and his £11,100 cheque gave him the distinction of being the first European senior to top £100,000 prize money in a season.

Tournament favourite Brian Barnes, exhausted after a punishing schedule on the United States senior circuit, played a tired final round of 74 for 215 and a share of seventh place with Dave Oakley and best Irish finisher Arnold O'Connor.
