Moate Community School earned a quarter-final meeting with Westmeath rivals St Mary's CBS of Mullingar by overcoming the determined challenge of St Peter's College, Wexford, in Tubber yesterday.
It required a late rally from Moate to overcome the opening charge of St Peter's. The Wexford side had built up a 1-2 to 0-4 lead at the half-way stage, but a couple of positional switches by Moate gradually began to work and gave them the upper hand for most of the second half.
In the second half, they rounded off their performance with two well-taken goals from Nigel Adamson and Thomas Browne.
