Middlesex skipper Mark Ramprakash was left fuming after Kent won their Sunday League match in controversial circumstances at Canterbury.

Kent won on a superior run-rate as a Duckworth/Lewis calculation gave them victory by a single run. Ramprakash would not go into details, but said: "I am very angry."

After 26 overs Kent had reached 115 for three with West Indies all-rounder Carl Hooper (45) and Alan Wells (46 not out) inspiring the home side before the rain started.

Middlesex had earlier made 206-7 with Jason Pooley hitting 94 off 79 balls.

At Headingley, Yorkshire also won on a superior run-rate after Somerset's innings ended after 20 overs with the visitors on 79 for six. Young seamer Ryan Sidebottom, son of former Yorkshire star Arnie, took three for 25.

Yorkshire had reached 185 for four after their 40 overs, Michael Vaughan scoring 52 and captain David Byas finishing with 46.

In the County Championship, Derbyshire, under Dominic Cork, kept the pressure on Nottinghamshire, adding a quick 30, after a rain delay, to bolster their overnight 358. Nottingham's reply of 104 for four leaves them in a seemingly hopeless position.
