Gerald McCarthy is to remain on as the Waterford senior hurling team manager for another year, a county board meeting in Dungarvan was informed. The announcement was accepted with unanimous approval by delegates. Uncertainty had surrounded McCarthy's involvement following the disappointment of the team's defeat by his native Cork in this year's Munster championship semi-final.
McCarthy guided Waterford to the Munster final, the All-Ireland semi-final and the National League final in 1998. The selection committee will be appointed after a special subcommittee reports to the board.
