NO decision has yet been made about the composition or chair of the GAA sub committee which is to be established to review the association's rules on amateur status. "No decision will be finalised on this matter for at least another week," said a Croke Park spokesperson.

There is, as yet, no indication, either, from the Mayo county board on whether or not they will be withdrawing their appeal against the GAC suspensions and fine imposed on the county and seven of its players.

Sentiment in the county, however, is said to be leaning in favour of withdrawing the appeals and letting the matter die, just as the Meath county board have done.

Tullamore's fixture confusion this Sunday has been cleared up with the announcement that the All Ireland B football semi final replay between Carlow and Longford will be played at 3.00 ink Portarlington, allowing the Leinster club senior football championship match between Offaly's Shannonbridge and St Sylvester's of Dublin to go ahead at Tullamore at 2.30.

. The death has taken place of former Mayo All Ireland medallist Sean Mulderrig. A Ballina Stephenites clubman, he was resident in London in later years. Together with his brother Mick, he played for the county in the 1940s and 50s, the most successful era in Mayo's history.

Corner forward on the side that narrowly lost the 1948 final to Cavan, he came on a substitute against Louth when Mayo won the All Ireland in 1950 and started at wing forward when they retained their title the following year. He also won a National League medal in 1949. His father, Mick also played for Mayo and, in 1932, was a member of the first team from the county to contest an All Ireland final.

Aidan Brennan, PRO for the Mayo county board, said: "I deeply regret the passing of Sean Mulderrig and the breaking of another link with the team of the 50s."
