Mayo last the pace

Mayo 3-18 Wicklow 1-22A GOAL from Derek McConn in the first period of extra-time put Mayo on the road to victory over Wicklow at Aughrim on Saturday.

Wicklow held a slender 0-8 to 0-7 lead at half-time and Seanie Kinsella added a goal after 41 minutes to make it 1-10 to 0-9.

But Stephen Broderick's goal reignited Mayo's challenge and with Keith Higgins picking off the points they drew level at 1-16 to 2-13 at the end of normal time.
