Limerick 0-10 Longford 0-7:LIMERICK EASED their relegation worries considerably when they beat bottom of the table Longford at Pearse Park on Saturday.
Limerick improved led by 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time with four of their points coming from frees converted by Kieran O’Callaghan.
Ger Dennigan and Francis McGee replied for Longford who made a promising start to the second half with further points from Kevin Mulligan and Brian Kavanagh to narrow the gap.
Limerick hit back to register three more scores through Ger Collins, Jim O’Donovan and Seanie Buckley but Longford remained in contention with three frees converted by Ger Dennigan.
However, the home side missed a couple of costly frees and it was Limerick who brought the scoring to a close in the 61st minute when Collins elected to shoot over the bar when a goal was on.
