Lett and Cummiskey fly the flag

COLOURS MATCH/UCD 50 Dublin University 20:THE 56TH Colours game at Donnybrook last night saw UCD cruise to a victory over their All-Ireland League Division Two opponents.

UCD were missing two of their backrow, who are on representative duty for the Leinster As today, but were too strong for a Dublin University whose hopes of back-to-back wins for the first time since 1995 were over in the first half.

The Dublin University pack had done well twice to wrestle back possession from their opponents as UCD laid siege to their line.

However, they were undone further up field as UCD twice hit them with intercepted tries.

Dublin University had drawn first blood on six minutes through their number eight Brian Coyle, with Michael Boland adding the conversion.

UCD centre Killian Lett then slipped the tackle of Volney House and added the conversion, only for Boland to restore Trinity's lead with a penalty on the quarter hour.

But then Andy Cummiskey's chip into space allowed UCD wing Vasily Artemiev to race over unopposed.

Boland added his second penalty midway through the half, but Lett then intercepted at halfway before offloading to Cian Aherne who raced clear under the posts.

Cummiskey again stole possession to make the line on 27 minutes with Lett converting.

And then two minutes after the restart, Kevin Croke stayed on his feet to send Lett over.

Lett converted, then converted the try of frontrow John Anthony Lee four minutes later.

Although Dublin University did manage a converted try from Joey Burns midway through the half, UCD finished off the game when Michael Twomey stepped inside to score to the right of the posts.
