Leinster A were marginally less error prone than their Ulster opponents in this lifeless meeting at Donnybrook on Saturday. Ulster out-half Bryn Cunningham kicked Ulster into a second minute lead, before both teams fumbled their way through an aimless first half that was punctuated by two tries from Leinster's Mervyn Meredith and Richard Ormond.

Kevin McKee's deft pass put Andy Park through a gap in the Leinster defence three minutes into the second half. Once in the clear, Park's pace made a try inevitable and Cunningham converted to bring the sides level.

Ormond and Cunningham kicked a penalty apiece and the game did take on some semblance of a pattern when David Coleman came on at left wing for Leinster.
