Veteran striker Jurgen Klinsmann was on target as Germany warmed up for the World Cup finals by thrashing Luxembourg 7-0 in Mannheim.

Ulf Kirsten set the ball rolling with the first goal in the sixth minute before Klinsmann, in fine form for Tottenham towards the end of the domestic season, made it two after 15 minutes. Thomas Helmer bagged the third after 28 minutes before Kirsten scored his second on the stroke of half-time.

Oliver Bierhoff, whose `golden goal' won Germany the 1996 European Championship in England, then blasted two more before his future AC Milan team-mate Christian Ziege wrapped things up six minutes from the end.
