Schools' Rugby/St Joseph's 11 Gallen CC 0:St Joseph's College, Galway, advanced to the semi-finals of the Connacht Schools' Senior Cup with a dominant display against Gallen Community College in Dangan yesterday.

A try from inside centre Andrew Fallon along with two penalties from outhalf Tadhg Leader was enough to seal the victory for St Joseph's as the visitors failed to respond.

The half-time score of 11-0 proved to be enough of a cushion for the Bish as they held off the challenge of the Offaly school.

Coláiste Iognáid also booked their place in the last four with a superb display at Newcastle yesterday.

Coláiste Iognáid produced seven tries on their way to a comfortable victory over Rice College, Westport, getting off to a flying first-half lead of 24-0.

They went on to score a further 15 second-half points against the Mayo side.

On a day when all three winning sides in the quarter-finals won by scores without reply, Sligo Grammar sent out the strongest message of all to the other sides that this may be their year.

Seven tries from a wide range of players shows both the talent and determination of this team to overcome any side that is put in front of them.

They led by 28-0 at the break but were just as ruthless after the restart as they put a further 15 points beyond the home side before the final whistle.
