The ILGU are trying to encourage their clubs to become more aware of the needs of young female members. A recent survey by the central junior committee of the ILGU revealed there are just 1,750 junior members, although the feeling is that there are more whose talent go unnoticed because of a shortage of competition. The survey - which saw 50 per cent of clubs reply - showed that 97 per cent of clubs were open to girls, but 30 per cent didn't have a junior lady organiser, while the majority of girls don't possess a handicap.
