GAA: DUBLIN SCHOOLS SF 'A' FINAL: St Benildus College 1-9 Maynooth 0-9: A BARRY Horan goal two minutes from time proved crucial, as St Benildus College secured a Dublin hurling and football double with an extra-time victory over a game Maynooth Post Primary side in O'Toole Park yesterday.

Maynooth recovered from going three points down inside the opening 10 minutes (following a brace of Glen Whelan points and one from Shane Cunningham) to trail at half-time by 0-4 to 0-3, with their scores coming through Mark Donnellan (free), substitute Simon Mackey and James Durcan.

Three more points from the excellent Donnellan, and a second Durcan score, put them two points in front with seven minutes of normal time remaining. But a point apiece from Benildus duo Horan and Cunningham brought the game into extra-time.

Benildus held a one-point lead midway through extra-time courtesy of a Niall Carr point, and even though Donnellan produced two more scores in the final 10 minutes of play, a 1-1 burst from Horan guided Benildus home in the end.
