Feeling old? Did you see last week's Scottish under-21 squad? Included were Paul Dalglish, Gavin Strachan and Jamie Buchan, sons of Kenny, Gordon and Martin, respectively. (Pictured right, as you might remember them.) Feeling older? Aren't we all.

The Roma-supporting half of the population of Italy's capital city was feeling a tad aggrieved last week, following an increase of 100 lira a litre in the price of milk. Why? They strongly suspect that the increase will partly fund their city rivals' Lazio's purchase of Christian Vieri, the Italian striker who signed from Atletico Madrid for $30 million. Lazio is owned by Sergio Cragnotti, the Italian food baron, whose company Cirio supplies a sizeable proportion of the capital's milk.

As if Spurs didn't have enough problems they have now learnt that one of their players, Algerian Moussa Saib, will be somewhat understrength when he takes to the field for the club in December (when their relegation battle will begin in earnest). As the only practising Muslim in the Premier League Saib will uphold the holy fasting period of Ramadan, the month-long festival during which Muslims fast between sunrise and sunset as a gesture of thanks and penance to their god.
