The High School overcame a mammoth challenge from CUS to reach the quarter-final at Williamstown. By the 15th minute the victors were 12-0 up after tries by Ben L Kane, converted by Brian Kelly, and Stephen Rooney. From then on, however, they took their foot off the trottle but kept their noses ahead thanks to a 45th minute try by Chris Harding.
CUS hopes were kept alive through tries by Robert Savage and Andrew Noonan.
