All week long, the public were subjected to the tiresome word play of the prattling Bobby Robson, the passionate Kevin Keegan and the plainly mad Howard Wilkinson, all of whom coyly under-stated their interest in assuming the role of England manager. Robson was particularly objectionable, allowing that the newcomer would, by necessity, have to be an Englishman. Wonder what Martin O'Neill thinks of that?
