It hasn't been the best season so far for Manchester City midfielder Jamie Pollock but last week was a momentous one in his personal life, when he pipped Jesus Christ to win the title of "the most remarkable person of the last 2000 years" in a worldwide internet poll. It seems that Queens Park Rangers' fans managed to rig the poll, by multiple voting, and nudged Jamie past Jesus as the deadline for voting approached. And why do QPR fans rate Jamie as "the most remarkable person of the last 2000 years"? Well, last April Jamie scored a late, spectacular headed own goal at Maine Road, where City were playing QPR, one that made the score 2-2 and gave the London side a point that helped them escape relegation to Division Two.
Jamie was reported to be over the moon, on hearing of his success, but declined to comment on allegations that "Jesus Christ" is the commonly heard exclamation around Maine Road whenever he attempts to head the ball back to his own keeper.
