Gaudi form will be difficult to beat

Aidan O'Brien may be busy at York again today but he is keeping the home fires burning at Tipperary with five runners through the evening. However, John Oxx could be the trainer to follow instead.

Oxx gives Gaudi a first run since May in the 12-furlong maiden and on the evidence of that, the horse will be difficult to beat.

In finishing two lengths off Moon Dragon at Leopardstown, Gaudi had Trebizond a length behind in third with the subsequent winners Halcyon, Mudaa-eb and Evanilda in behind.

It looks a reasonable piece of form and while Trebizond has an obvious edge in recent race fitness, he has had a lot of opportunities to break his duck before this and not taken them.

O'Brien runs Kalahari in this but a fourth to Gaudi's stable companion Danse Classique at Leopardstown doesn't quite look good enough to trouble Gaudi.

Oxx and rider John Murtagh can also foil O'Brien in the Andersen Race with Hierarchy. The Leopardstown winner didn't exactly sparkle behind Dazzling Park at Cork last time but still looks a safer option than Musketeer who was beaten at Gowran after struggling home at Fairyhouse in a race that on form he should have won comfortably.

The Ballinrobe winner Spokane faces a difficult task while La Serina appears to be turning into one of those frustrating sorts that are expensive to follow.

The opening maiden sees Casuarina try and improve on her debut behind Bally Pride at the Curragh. She along with Jamieson, who ran second to Brahms at Fairyhouse, will have to be respected but preference is for Dermot Weld's Salab.

The drop back to five furlongs should suit and Salab doesn't appear to face anything of the quality of Pissaro or Bach in this contest.

The fillies maiden is something of a puzzle with newcomers likely to dominate. O'Brien runs Alluring, a daughter of Lure, but the Shadeed filly Cutting The Edge can maintain the solid recent form of the Weld juveniles.

Jamie Spencer is a significant booking for Slightly Swift in the apprentice race while Frisky could now be coming to a peak and should be worthy of support.
