AIRTRICITY LEAGUE Bohemians 0 Galway Utd 2:BOHEMIANS' difficult week off the pitch got even worse on it as they slumped to defeat against nine-man Galway United.

Bohemians had plenty of chances to win the game, but defensive lapses have hurt them all season and again they slipped up in front of their own goal.

Pat Fenlon made five changes to his line-up after Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght, with Paddy Madden among those on the bench despite the presence of Derby County manager Nigel Clough and scouts from Peterborough United, Watford and Millwall.

Bohemians were unlucky not to go in front as Paul Keegan and Owen Heary had efforts cleared off the line by Karl Sheppard and Rhys Meynell. With a home goal looking increasingly likely, a bizarre moment at the other end saw Galway reduced to 10 men and go in front within 30 seconds.

An Owen Heary foul on the edge of the hosts’ box looked promising for United but as Stephen O’Donnell lined up a shot, Meynell struck Heary and was shown a red card. The free stood and Stephen O’Donnell swept it home.

Things got worse for the hosts when Galway’s Jamie McKenzie squared for Stephen Walsh who doubled the score. Paul Sinnott was dismissed by Damien Hancock for a foul on Killian Brennan, but Galway hung on for a famous win.
