JUMP jockey Dean Gallagher was yesterday delighted that fears he had broken his shoulder in a fall at Chepstow have proved to be unfounded.

The Irishman, who broke his left collar-bone in the tumble last Saturday, aims to be back in action by the end of the month, rather than spending six weeks on the side-lines as he feared.

"It is good news," he said. "I went to see Dr Foy at the Ridgeway Hospital and he said that as far as he could see on the X-ray the shoulder wasn't broken. It has just been badly knocked about and bruised.

"My collar-bone is a clean break and hopefully I will be back by the end of October, as I thought."
