After four days of keen competition the Fingal Golf Classic was decided on a countback when Seamus Doherty and Philip Wardick tied with Paul Nimmo and Brenda Hatch on 186 points. However the Stackstown/Boystown combination of Doherty and Wardick won on the last card when they scored 49 points at Luttrellstown against the Beaverstown pairing of Nimmo and Hatch who had 47 points.
Played over Hollywood Lakes, St Margaret's, Portmarnock Links and Luttrellstown, the winning pair had scores of 44, 41, 52 and 49.
The Acorn Trophy for the best Fingal team went to Harry Rowesome of Beaverstown and Morgan Kelly of Coldwinters with 170 points, while the best overseas team was P Brooijiman and F Rijling of Holland who shot 168 points. The best all-women's team went to the Elm Green pairing of Sheila Terry and Joan Maher with 156 points.
