Final verdict: Four managers have their say

Gavin Cummiskey gives Michael McNamara (Offaly), Marty Morris (Dublin), Dinnie Cahill (Antrim) and Justin McCarthy (Waterford) a chance to have their say.

Justin McCarthy (Waterford)

"I would expect a backlash from Tipperary to be honest due to the League final. Kilkenny came back with two late goals when it appeared that Tipp had it wrapped up. Charlie Carter played a vital role that day but he is no longer there.

That final was right up to championship standard but Kilkenny got the breaks that day, and they know it.

Tipperary traditionally have not been upset by the prospect of playing Kilkenny, they certainly do not fear them. Having said that Kilkenny are the better team and they will have to drop back a notch in order for Tipp to prevail, I would have a slight preference for them. But again, due to the tradition of these two countries it can come down to any given days performance.

The Tipp backs will have to be very tight on the likes of Henry Shefflin and DJ Carey. Also, they need a break in midfield and will have to get at least two goals to beat them.

In the replay Cork know deep down that they can win it. Their tradition in replays has been very good down through the years. I think they are a little more ready for the fray this time.

They sensed something last Saturday but now they fully realise it.

Final verdict: Kilkenny v Cork.

Dinnie Cahill (Antrim)

"I feel Tipp have got a few good games under their belt and that will stand to them, just the same as Wexford. Kilkenny don't really know how good they are, as they had a relatively easy passage through to the Leinster final. They may have beaten Tipperary in the League final but it is different from the championship.

Tipperary sorted out centre-back with Tommy Dunne the last day and they have several strongmen in the forwards especially John Carroll who, if fit, will be difficult to contain.

They have also shown that their bench is capable of coming in and being effective while Kilkenny don't have the bench that they had last year.

Everything is pushing towards Tipp, their under-21's showed how good they can be, and a lot of them will be pushing for inclusion. John Devane and Diarmuid Fitzgerald I expect could come on at some stage.

In the replay I would go again for Wexford as I thought Antrim would beat them and they couldn't. The last game will stand to Cork but in the under-21 final all their big names failed to deliver."

Verdict: Tipperary v Wexford

Marty Morris (Dublin)

"There will be a definite hunger in the Tipperary camp after last years championship defeat and the League final defeat to Kilkenny.

At the start of the year Tipp and Kilkenny were considered the two best teams in the country, I'm sure Wexford and Cork will contest that now though. It will come down to the ability of the forwards to take their scores on the day.

Tipp have consistently improved since the Clare defeat with some workmanlike displays in the qualifiers against Laois, Galway and Offaly.

If they have solved the problems that they had last year at centre-back and centre-forward they will be difficult to stop.

The main threat is from the Kilkenny half-back line. If they stop them from launching a platform from there they can cut out the supply line to the forwards.

It will be a 50/50 game but if Tipperary forward Eoin Kelly puts in a five-star performance they could shade it.

In the replay Wexford's older players may struggle with the recovery period while Cork should benefit from the extra game. For Wexford to sustain last week's tempo will be difficult. With just a six-day gap this match is coming too soon for them.

Final verdict: Tipperary v Cork.

Michael McNamara (Offaly)

"The difference is that Kilkenny are arguably without a match this summer. I'm sure they would of loved a couple of close calls but now they are in the middle of August and they don't know their form.

Look at the way they have come through and then remember the route Tipperary have come. They were hammered in the first round of the Munster championship (by Clare) but then they re-grouped and went on a marvellous run beating Laois, Galway and Offaly.

But it's alarming the way teams have been able to come back at Tipperary, but I am sure they have worked hard on that aspect.

Kilkenny's half-back line is were they launch a lot of their attacks from yet, Tipp have a lot of strength on their half-forward line that should be able to shade it in the end.

In my experience of replays they are always a nightmare, the fresher team will come out of it. After their long lay-off Cork should be fresher but in the Munster final if Waterford had of shown a patch of last years form they would have beaten them so I wouldn't rule Wexford out.

Cork did have a little bit in reserve in the last 20 minutes or so, it was they faded off more than anything else.

Verdict: Tipperary v Cork.
