Fermanagh kept their promotion hopes alive with a pointed free from Raymond Gallagher in the closing minutes of an absorbing match at Enniskillen.

Fermanagh raced into a 1-2 to 0-0 lead after five minutes when full forward Sean Quinn got their first goal. Wexford fought back and at halftime they trailed by 1-3 to 0-3. Fermanagh again got off to the better start in the second half and after six minutes Donal McNulty drove the ball low to the net to make it 2-4 to 0-4. The remainder of the half, however, almost all belonged to Wexford. They shot six unanswered points including two from Scot Doran.

Fermanagh's winning point, however came from a well worked attack in which Thomas Callaghan was fouled by Willie Harrington and Gallagher converted the free
