A DRAMATIC last minute score from Gonzaga's Michael Fanning put Newbridge out of the Leinster Schools junior cup in yesterday's long awaited second replay played at Donnybrook.
Newbridge spent much of the second half valiantly defending a slender 7-3 lead but with time almost up Gonzaga were awarded a scrum under the posts.
From the put in half back Conor Fearon sent the ball out to centre Alan Butterly who in turn released Fanning for a try in the left hand corner.
Newbridge had taken a fifth minute lead when flanker John Toland broke through the Gonzaga cover to score under the posts with Ronan Kavanagh subsequently converting.
Gonzaga were then thrown a lifeline nine minutes after the interval when Newbridge were penalised to hand Butterly a straight forward kick in front of the posts.
