JODY FANAGAN could not hide his disappointment at his performance in the Lytham golf trophy at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The Walker Cup player was one of seven Irish competitors but only three made it to the final stages and Fanagan's own challenge collapsed on the tough inward holes yesterday. He shot 76 for a seven over par total of 294, which left him 15 shots behind runaway winner Graham Ramkin of Scotland.
"My iron play was desperate at times, when that goes wrong, it can affect your whole game," Fanagan said.
He parred the first 10 boles, missing three good birdie chances, but as the wind strengthened he played poorly the home stretch.
John Morris from Douglas finished with 71 for a five under par total of 292, but Irish champion Peter Lawrie from Newlands was eight strokes further back after a 75.
