KIEREN FALLON will today appeal against the ban meted out by the Italian stewards on Sunday, the jockey's agent confirmed.

If his appeal is unsuccessful, Fallon would face an 11-day ban which would mean he would miss the Derby meeting.

Jockey Club spokesman John Maxse said yesterday: "We received a fax from the Italians confirming that Kieren had been banned for 10 days. We then contacted them to inform them of the four-day ban (June 2nd-5th) he received at Doncaster on Saturday.

"The Italians seem to be choosing to stick to the original dates for the ban which was June 3rd-12th inclusive. In effect he would be banned for 11 days June 2nd-12th. Kieren has until the start of the Italian ban to appeal."
