NICK FALDO showed he is ready for next week's US Open, but Americans D A Weibring and Mark Wiebe stole the show when grabbing the lead after two rounds of the US PGA Kemper Open at Potomac, Maryland, yesterday.
Weibring and Wiebe, both with medical ailments, fired four-under par 67s to stand at six-under on 136 for the £1 million event, a warm-up for next week's 97th US Open across the street at Congressional Country Club.
Australia's Greg Norman was lurking one stroke back in a share of third along with British Open champion Tom Lehman and John Morse and Omar Uresti.
Faldo fired the event's lowest round of 65 after an opening 73 to stand at 138 along with five others.
Those missing the cut included South Africa's Ernie Els, Scotland's Sandy Lyle, Sweden's Jesper Parnevik plus Americans Tom Kite and Fred Couples.
