1. With equity partner
The figures that emerged from Monday's marathon meeting on the Davy Hickey Property proposals have obvious drawbacks. The property firm are seeking a lump sum payment of nearly £70 million in 10 years time, as well as a share of the profits, box and premium seat re-sales and television revenue for a further 40 years. In addition, the FAI will have to fund separate debts of at least £17 million over and above what they have already spent and may be about to part with £500,000 to get through the remainder of the planning process.
That leaves the total cost of Eircom Park a long way off Bernard O'Byrne's £65 million, fully-funded project of two years ago.
2. National Stadium
Although the plan for the 80,000-seat Abbotstown stadium has yet to come off the drawing board, the prospect of getting to keep 10year ticket and corporate box money while not having to shoulder any financial burden must hold a big attraction for the FAI. According to the Government, they would also have in the region of £11 million to put back into the grassroots of the Irish game.
