Teenage Italian striker Francesco Sanetti will be a surprise inclusion in the squad if his international clearance comes through, but Norwegian midfielder Petter Rudi is still sidelined by a hamstring strain.

Kevin Davies returns to Southampton's squad for the first time in two months after an ankle injury. Kevin Richardson is back in the midfield as Carlton Palmer is banned and Ken Monkou is recalled to the defence after his suspension. Matthew Oakley is doubtful with a twisted knee and David Hughes is battling to recover from a dead leg.

Everton give a late fitness test to skipper Duncan Ferguson (knee ligaments) and could bring in on-loan winger Peter Beagrie. Slaven Bilic and Carl Tiler are suspended, so teenager Richard Dunne could play alongside veterans Dave Watson and Craig Short. Another teenager, midfielder Gavin McCann, is also in line for his full debut.

Bolton manager Colin Todd has to decide whether to pick £3.5million striker Dean Holdsworth, who has not scored since October, or loan striker Bob Taylor. Todd is also missing Gerry Taggart (groin).

Robbie Van Der Laan could make his first Premiership appearance since October for Derby after recovering from an ankle injury. He could replace Darryl Powell, who damaged an ankle at Coventry last Saturday. Skipper Igor Stimac is suspended, so Gary Rowett is likely to replace him. Goalkeeper Mart Poom and Stefano Eranio are available again, along with striker Dean Sturridge, who has completed a two-match ban. Lars Bohinen makes his Pride Park debut.

Tore Andre Flo and Mark Hughes seem certain to replace Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola up front, while Frank Sinclair, Jody Morris, Danny Granville, Laurent Charvet and David Lee could all feature.
