Galway champions Clarinbridge produced a powerful second-half display to overrun Roscommon's Four Roads in the Connacht club senior hurling final at Athleague yesterday.
Four Roads, who battled bravely in the first half, trailed by five points at the interval, 1-6 to 0-4. Clarinbridge's first goal came in the 14th minute when their outstanding player Alan Kerins had a shot blocked by goalkeeper Adrian Tully, but full-forward David Forde was on hand to hammer the rebound to the net.
Liam Madden gave a great exhibition at wing back and when substitute Michael Carr scored Clarinbridge's second goal in the 50th minute to put them 2-14 to 0-6 ahead, the 1,500 crowd knew the contest was all over.
Seven minutes from time Four Roads corner forward Brendan Mannion fired home a superb goal from 20 yards but it was purely a consolation score.
