Richard Dunwoody heads for Wincanton today still needing two winners to break Peter Scudamore's alltime British record of 1,678 career wins over jumps.

He moved to within one of equalling the record when the Robert Ogden-owned Grosvenor travelled and jumped well to provide him with his sole success in the Weatherbys Turf News Handicap at Newton Abbot on Saturday. Dunwoody said: "It was very good to get a winner and edge a bit closer to Scu's record, as it is I'm going for 100 winners this season and obviously I want to keep riding as many as possible."

But the afternoon had started inauspiciously for Dunwoody as his first mount Monchania, making her jumping debut, could finish only fifth behind easy winner Anns Girl in the Easter Bunny Mares' Only Maiden Hurdle.

Dunwoody's third ride of the day, Diddy Rymer, was well-beaten when coming down at the second last in the Easter Bonnet Racecourse Claiming Hurdle won by Castle Secret and his final mount, Minella Derby, finished fourth behind Hold Your Ranks in the Greyhound Racing At Newton Abbot Selling Handicap Chase

The Dunwoody road show now heads to Wincanton and he summed up his chances of beating the record saying: "I have some nice rides including Yorkshire Edition and Knight Templar for owner Robert Ogden and a few more for Paul Nicholls."
