Meath SFC Final/ St Peter's 1-8 Blackhall Gaels 0-8: The controversy surrounding the merits of their place in this final didn't effect St Peter's, Dunboyne, as they deservedly won only their second senior title at Páirc Tailteann, Navan, yesterday.

Dunboyne had lost their semi-final against Navan O'Mahony's but were subsequently awarded the game after their opponents broke the substitute rules in extra-time of that match.

Meath player Tommy O'Connor came up from wing back to score the game's only goal after seven minutes. Blackhall had a stiff breeze behind them in the opening half but it was Dunboyne who led 1-5 to 0-4 at the break.

They increased that lead to 1-7 to 0-5 by the 35th minute but only managed a further score after that when man of the match Ger Robinson shot his third point in the 61st minute.

Blackhall, who had full back Paul Nestor sent off following a second yellow card in the 41st minute, dominated possession throughout the second half but could find no way through a resolute Dunboyne defence.
