Dublin 0-14 Carlow 0-13 AET – 0-10 each after normal time:MEATH REFEREE Joe Curley received a Garda escort from the Dr Cullen Park pitch yesterday after incensing the home fans in this absorbing semi-final.

Carlow’s outstanding midfielder Brendan Murphy had made a fine late catch 25 metres from the Dublin goal and, with the Carlow followers demanding a free in, referee Curley awarded a free out, apparently for over-carrying.

The sides were deadlocked six times, with sub Barry O’Rourke snatching the equaliser for Dublin just before the end of normal time.

Dublin’s greater all-round pace just saw them home in extra-time.
