Tennis/ Masters finals: Yvonne Doyle capped off a remarkable season at Castleknock over the weekend when she beat 16-year-old Mariyana Levova in the Danone Masters finals. Doyle had come into the series as the hot favourite, having won five of the qualifying events leading in to the tournament.

The experienced Irish Federation Cup player was able to stamp her authority on the match in the first set against the Navan schoolgirl and kept her to only two games. Levova, who is Bulgarian but living in Ireland and hoping to gain Irish nationality, also dropped the second set 6-2 as Doyle swept to a straight set win.

In the men's event, the real final was probably played at the semi final stages when the Davis Cup pair of Stephen Nugent and Peter Clarke met on Friday. Clarke won that tight match before facing Conor Taylor in the weekend's final. The hard hitting Clarke, who came within a point a few years ago of qualifying for the US Open main draw, won the first set quite handy, 6-1, and the second 6-2 to close out the tournament and the summer season.

FINALS: Men: P Clarke bt C Taylor 6-1, 6-2. Women: Y Doyle bt M Levova 6-2, 6-2.
