Frankie Dettori yesterday appeared resigned to spending extra time with his new-born son.

He is unlikely to appeal against a four-day whip ban he picked up at York on Wednesday, his first day back at work after Monday's birth of Leonardo.

Dettori is suspended on October 15th-16th and 18th-19th forcing him out of the final two days of Newmarket's prestigious Cesarewitch meeting.

He will miss several important rides, including last year's Epsom Derby winner HighRise who is pencilled in for Dubai Champion Stakes and leading Cesarewitch fancy High And Mighty.

Olivier Peslier is a possible replacement for Dettori on Godolphin's High-Rise and Lend A Hand. "Nothing has been finalised but he will be there and we are in discussion at the moment," said the Frenchman's agent Dave "Shippy" Ellis.

"But he won't ride High And Mighty in the Cesarewitch as he will be on Spirit Of Love - he won it on him last year."

Kieren Fallon, due to ride at Hong Kong from November 1st, will stay in Britain until the last possible moment in order to secure the Channel 4 Flat Jockeys Premiership.

Fallon, who currently tops the table with Frankie Dettori his nearest rival for the first prize of a £15,000 Cartier watch, said: "Frankie is only seven wins away and we all know it only takes him a day to rack up that sort of score.

"I can confirm that I will be staying in England till the bitter end, leaving only one competitive weekend free and hope that will be enough to secure the Premiership title."
