Frankie Dettori was jumping for joy on his return to action at Yarmouth yesterday when he landed an 18 to 1 plus hat-trick. The Italian, who sat out Tuesday's action following his shoulder injury sustained at Leicester on Monday, thrilled the crowds packed round the unsaddling enclosure with his trademark flying dismount from Asad after the Godolphin-owned newcomer had landed the EBF Herringfleet Maiden.
Asad, the concluding leg of the jockey's hat-trick, was giving Godolphin its 20th individual two-year-old success of the season after making virtually all the running to floor Henry Cecil's odds-on newcomer Great Dane by one and a half lengths.
Dettori opened his account when displaying all his artistry on the enigmatic Paradise Navy on whom he made all the running to hold Kieren Fallon and Anjou by a short head in the Newport Claiming Stakes.
Luca Cumani was also singing the jockey's praises after greeting Silverani, three-quarters length conqueror of Unconditional Love in the Corton Conditions Stakes.
