NEWS ROUND-UP:ONE OF the greatest rivalries in Gaelic football will return to its traditional home on Sunday week for the first time in a decade when Galway take on Mayo in Tuam Stadium.

The old rivals have not met at the north Galway venue since July, 1999 when Mayo won the Connacht championship final by four points, while the last league meeting there between them there was back in 1991.

The decision to move the game from Pearse Stadium in Salthill was based on development works which have been carried out at Tuam Stadium, long regarded as the home of Galway football.

Development work started about five years ago, but was discontinued due to lack of finance, but that has now been re-activated and the first of several phases of developing the Tuam facility into a modern stadium is complete.
