A controversial penalty helped Denmark take revenge for Tuesday's 1-0 defeat in Kilkenny with a flattering win over Ireland at Belfield last night.
Referee Paul McKeon's decision in the 60th minute to give a penalty against Irish goalkeeper Brian Murphy who had taken down Martin Hansen with his feet after cleanly gathering the through ball with his hands ultimately turned the game Denmark's way.
Danish captain Hans Mathiesen calmly scored from the spot to make it 2-0. Seven minutes later, Frank Hansen added a third. Ireland had already been stung by a clinical Danish goal from Ronnie Tygensen after 10 minutes.
