Clubs to meet UEFA

THIRTY European clubs will meet UEFA next week to discuss the future of soccer after the recent Bosman ruling. Three clubs from each of the top 12 leagues will also debate the creation of a European "super league" an idea backed by the bigger sides.

UEFA said yesterday the meeting would also look at the televised, broadcasting of European club matches and better coordination of the international fixture list.

The December ruling by the European Court has divided the sport and left UEFA on a collision course with Brussels. The ruling has been welcomed by some major clubs, however, who are keen to exploit new sources of cut rate talent.

National associations who had qualified at least three times for the finals of any of UEFA's three club competitions were eligible to send representatives from at least three teams to the meeting.
