Clifford catches the eye

Cork IT 1-16 NUI Galway 1-12First-year student Ryan Clifford starred for Cork IT in Bishopstown. The Newtownshandrum forward claimed his side's only goal from a 50th-minute penalty after he was fouled and this helped CIT - who had been 0-8 to 0-5 ahead at the interval - to a 1-15 to 0-8 lead.

NUIG finished strongly, but were always chasing a losing cause despite Darragh Egan's late goal.

Cathal Naughton also impressed for CIT while Colin Ryan's free-taking gave NUI Galway an outside chance of catching their hosts.
