City of Derry continued their excellent opening to the AIB All-Ireland League Division Two campaign by recording a fourth successive victory when beating Bective Rangers 15-5 at Judges Road on Saturday. Second placed Old Crescent did not have a match but the next three teams in the standings, Old Belvedere, Sunday's Well and UCD all enjoyed good victories.

Belvedere thrashed bottom club Portadown 49-13 with Ronan Browne leading the way with a hat-trick of tries. The 'Well were too good for Greystones at Musgrave Park yesterday, Declan Coppinger grabbing a brace of tries in their 27-17 victory.

UCD defeated fellow students UCC 12-8 at Belfield with out-half Paddy Wallace, a member of the Ireland Under-21 squad, kicking four penalties. The victory proved doubly beneficial for UCD as the outcome also counted in the Dudley Cup, the inter-university competition.
