All-Ireland series dates
2008 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
July 12th: Preliminary Round Qualifier (If necessary, in the event any county from Division Four of the National League reaches a provincial final).
July 19th: Round One Qualifier: Sixteen teams to be drawn to play eight games in a completely open draw. First team drawn to play at home, subject to home venue meeting the National Infrastructure and Safety Committee criteria.
July 26th: Round Two Qualifier: Eight teams drawn from the eight first-round winners.
August 2nd/3rd/4th: Round Three Qualifier: The four winners from round two drawn against the four provincial-final losers. Venues to be determined by the Central Competitions Control Committee.
August 9th/10th: All-Ireland Quarter-finals: The four provincial champions drawn against the four round three winners. Venues to be determined by the Central Competitions Control Committee.
August 24th: All-Ireland Semi-final: Connacht v Munster (The provincial champions or a team that defeats them).
August 31st: All-Ireland Semi-final: Leinster v Ulster (The provincial champions or a team that defeats them).
September 21st: All-Ireland Final (Replay October 5th if needed).
2008 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
June 28th: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier - Phase One: Antrim v Galway, at Casement Park. (Home venue to alternate annually from 2008 onwards. Should Antrim or Galway be replaced by another team as a result of relegation, their replacements will take their place in the home/away rota).
July 5th: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier - Phase Two: Winner round one v Leinster round one loser; loser round one v Munster round one loser (Venues to be on a home-or-away basis and determined by a draw - i.e. first team drawn has home venue provided it meets the criteria set down the by National Infrastructure and Safety Committee).
July 12th: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier - Phase Three: Two games - semi-final losers from Leinster v semi-final losers from Munster (An open draw will be made to determine the pairings. Venues wil be on a home-or-away basis and determined by a further draw - i.e. the first team drawn will have home venue provided their venue meets the criteria set down by National Infrastructure and Safety Committee.
July 19th: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier - Phase Four: Phase two winners v phase three winners (A draw will be made to determine pairings. The draw shall be structured to avoid repeat pairings, where feasible. Venues to be determined by the Central Competitions Control Committee).
July 27th: All-Ireland Hurling Quarter-finals - Phase four winner v Leinster final loser; Phase four winner v Munster final loser (Pairings to be determined by a draw, which will be structured to avoid repeat pairings, where feasible. Venues to be determined by the Central Competitions Control Committee).
August 10th: All-Ireland Hurling Semi-final: Leinster champions v Munster runner-up or team that beat them.
August 17th: All-Ireland Hurling Semi-final: Munster champions v Leinster runner-up or team that beat them.
September 7th: All-Ireland final (Replay September 28th if needed).
