ALLIANZ FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISIONS ONE & TWO: Tyrone 1-12 Laois 0-11:TYRONE AND Laois served up an entertaining game in terrible conditions at Portlaoise on Saturday night. Tyrone were seeking a third victory on the spin while Laois now face the prospect of three defeats in a row when they travel to Sligo next time out.

Tyrone played great in the opening 25 minutes and after Billy Sheehan opened the scoring the visitors replied with four in a row On 15 minutes came a real turning point when a great ball by Brian McGuigan was flicked into the net by Colm Cavanagh. The next 10 minutes were scoreless but two in a row by McGuigan extended the visitors’ lead and although Laois shot two late points, Tyrone led 1-7 to 0-3 at the interval.

Laois added five points before the 55th minute but Tyrone kept their nose in front with points from Martin Penrose and Seán Cavanagh. But a superb point from Darren Strong saw the deficit reduced to three with 10 minutes left. That was as close as it got and late strikes from Martin Penrose and substitute Mark Donnelly ensured Tyrone were safe.
