WESTMEATH SCHOOLS, short their influential contingent from Coláiste Mhuire in Mullingar, were no match for Castlecomer Community School in Mullingar, yesterday.

Despite being very understrength, the home side led by 0-4 to 0-2 after 14 minutes. However, an unanswered 2-1 within 90 seconds midway through the first half effectively settled the contest, the goals coming from Stephen Daly and Eoin Bergin. The winners led by 2-7 to 0-5 at the break and were never troubled in the second half.
